Finding a Style

As we move from the blocking stage to the actual, a new challenge arises: finding out the exact look of the physical world. Character design and stylization is its own challenge, but creating a stylized physical world is quite the beast itself.
As you work, it's hard to envision how an everyday object would look through a "wonk" lens without some solid references. It's a matter of strategically "breaking" and stretching objects without making it look like nonsense.
So, I found some references to ground myself in a specific style to maintain some semblence of consistency. The below 3 images are *NOT* mine, I was unable to find a source/the original artist(s), and they were used for reference only.

The one element that brings these stylized buildings together seems to be the use of curves and non-90 degree angles. Following this general "rule" from these images (and others I glanced at while browsing), I wanted to try and apply it to my work on the IRS schoolhouse.
Below is an update on the schoolhouse, with a lot of my research on various "wonk" styles applied to it. It still has a way to go, but I received a lot of good feedback from my group today on it, so I'm going to press ahead as confident as I can.
